NYCC: ONI PRESS announces DOWN! SET! FIGHT!...

My latest book, with publisher ONI PRESS, was announced this weekend at the New York Comic Con!  It's a terrific read, written by the almost equally terrific Chris Sims and Chad Bowers.  Below the Press Release as well as some links (including EIC James Lucas Jones vision for the NEW ONIPRESS.COM -- I'm really excited to be part of this):

"In DOWN SET FIGHT, "Fearless" Chuck Fairlane was one of the fastest rising stars in professional football, but his career came to a screeching halt when he was expelled from game after causing the biggest team-on-team brawl in the history of sports. Today, Chuck's a teacher and football coach at Darius Rucker High School in Columbia, South Carolina, and is more than content in his new life. But when costumed mascots begin attacking him for seemingly no reason, Chuck soon discovers that even though he’s put the past behind him, it’s not always so easy to move on."

Ambush Bug & the Heckler on the Muppet Show...

The single greatest idea I have ever been pitched for a commission.  You completely rock, Rich!  I hope someone out there wants to try and colour this.

Damian Wayne Robin...

I love drawing Robin.  Not terribly familiar with the Damian Robin, but he's a blast to draw!  Thanks, Justin.

Scooby Doo: Velma vs Professor Pericles...

Dear Blogger:

Long time, no talk.  I've been busy.  The always terrific Calgary Red and White Show today.  Boatload of commissions, starting with this one.  I adore Scooby Doo.  One property I'm actually desperate to work on!  Thanks, Ben!

Saskaoon Blitz: Look Straight Ahead...

Independent comic characters are an avenue I wouldn't normally tread, but Elaine M Will's LOOK STRAIGHT AHEAD is terrific!  Someone needs to publish the hell out of this series.

Saskatoon Blitz -- Evil Ernie...

I don't know the first thing about CHAOS Comics -- but, I'm always up for a challenge.  Plus, there's no way I could turn down Neil Makohon.

Calgary Expo: DOCTOR DOOM!

My favourite sketch of the Expo.  I'm really happy with his face!  Thanks Mike!

Calgary Expo: Thing & Human Torch...

This was a fun one.  I've always preferred the design of Ben in the first few issues of FF -- looks more like a scabby, burn victim.  Gross.  Thanks, Mike!

Calgary Expo: Conan!

Fourth.  I've never drawn a barbarian before -- I'm really happy with this one!  Becky Cloonan's Conan design is an incredible inspiration! Thanks Sean!

Calgary Expo: Batman vs Batbomb!

Third of the con!  Thanks Jason's friend (ah, I forgot your name! Sorry.) UPDATE:  It's Sean!  Thanks again, Sean, these were great fun!

Calgary Expo: Captain Marvel vs Skrulls...

First commission of the con for Rob Swan.  Thanks Rob!

Calgary Comic Expo 2012...

Yessir/ma'am!  I will be at the Calgary Comic Expo this year.  My beautiful baby girl was born the weekend of the Expo last year, so it's been a couple years since I have seen many of my fellow Calgarians.  I'll be sitting at table M09.  I'll have original art (pages, SuperVillain Showdown, pin-ups), sketchbooks, comics and prints at the table (more details this week).

AND, if anyone is looking for commissions I'm currently taking pre-con bookings.  The list is above, fire me an email at SCOTT_K@SHAW.CA if there is something specific you would like.  I LOVE doing commissions, always so much fun.

#3 of the Legion of Doom SupervillainShowdown.tumblr.com challenge!  Oh the Wonder Twins, drove me bananas on the cartoon and, yet, I really like drawing them.  Weird.

Nick Fury vs Baron Strucker (pencils)...

This image has been sitting on my desk for, oh, 6 months.  I've been meaning to ink it -- hopefully posting the pencils will force my hand.

TOYMAN: Latest SuperVillain Showdown!

For those unaware, Toyman is my favourite Superman villain.  I really like the toy angle -- such an unexpected adversary.

I'm really happy with the colours on this one.

SuperVillain Showdown: SINESTRO (and Green Lantern)

Took a brief break from pages to put together phase one of Dennis Culver's and my Legion of Doom for SuperVillain Showdown.  Been a good long while since I drew a superhero.

Li'l Depressed Boy...

This one was a long time coming.  Sina Grace and I had been wanting a pin-up from one another for our respective Image books since meeting last year at ECCC.  His terrific version appeared in the Intrepids TPB, and I finally was able to sit down and return the favour.  This was a fun piece for me, as I'm a HUGE fan of the book, and it was also nice to make something a little more quiet and romantic.  Seriously start picking up the series if you haven't already:

GUERILLAS pin-up...

Ah, Brahm Revel.  If you have not treated yourself to Oni Press' GUERILLAS Vol1 you may, may need you head examined.  I was graciously invited (thanks Charlie!) to contribute a pin-up to Vol2.  Not sure on release date, but, man, this was a fun sandbox to play in for a couple days.

Cobra's Baroness...

Whew, squirreling away a bit of time between pages on my Oni book to add more content to my blog.

I'm on a crazy GI Joe kick right now.  Simply cannot get enough of it.

Going to find some time to colour this too.

Monkeys (and Robin)...

Trying to learn how to draw monkeys -- lots more work to come.

Oh, and a Joker-juiced Robin.

I really don't know what it is, but I love the hell out of these characters.  They are a super blast to draw.

And the colour!

Tod Browning's FREAKS commission...

Whew,  I've been busy,  my new project at Oni Press is keeping me on my toes.  Babies, it is tip-top, should be more news on that in the coming months.  This FREAKS commission was done for Mr Bret Boyer of Arcane Comics in Seattle.   I think I'll open up a shop here soon, really need a place to sell off some pages and pin-ups (I'm sitting on a mound of new ones that need to be uploaded)!
